Man Tries To Take Selfie With Rattlesnake And Gets Bitten

A man from Southern California is at risk of losing his hand after being bitten by a rattle snake. The man had been attempting to take a photo of himself with the venomous reptile wrapped around his neck. The man’s mother says Alex Gomez aged 36 is said to be extremely embarrassed by the incident which took place in the community of Lake Elsinore.

“I’m shocked that he would have that thing around his neck, it could’ve bit his neck, and that would have been it. That’s just being a fool.” Said Deborah Gomez to news reporters.

People like to take photos with dangerous animals

An increasing number of people are attempting to take selfies with dangerous animals at zoos or in the wild. Rattlesnakes now join the list of wild an unpredictable animals such as sharks, bears, caged tigers and lions. Last year there were so many attempts to take selfies with bears that the U.S. Forest Service was compelled to issue a warning.

The rattlesnake was warning him

According to Mr. Gomez’s nephew, the rattlesnake that was chosen to be the subject of the selfie was rattling loudly as a warning before Mr. Gomez captured the snake. After he was bitten and his hand and arm began to swell with excruciating pain, a neighbor called emergency services and Mr. Gomez who is a father of three was taken to a nearby hospital and told he may even lose his hand. His mother is so furious at the foolishness of her son that she refused to keep quiet.

“I told him the news people had been calling, and he said ‘Mom, you better not,’ and I said I’m going to. I’m going to teach him a real good lesson when he gets home. No mercy for him.”
