What should you do when a 7-tonne elephant and its tusks approaches your open-air safari vehicle? Well the short answer to that question is exactly what your safari guide tells you to do.  This is exactly what happened to an unidentified woman who was on a safari holiday in Kruger National Park when a curious bull elephant approached the tour vehicle at South Africa’s famous game reserve.

 “A little bit scary,” the guide said. “Stay very still, all right?”

Following instructions

Fortunately for the woman and the other tourists, they followed instructions during what was a very tense moment for the group. The elephant first began by scraping his tusks along the canvas and then moved towards the backside of the vehicle with the woman trying to remain as still as possible as were other members of the group.

Who’s the boss?

The elephant soon left but not before banging the rail of the vehicle with his tail. The person who shot video said the group had been parked for approximately 10 minutes in the same spot because there were a group of elephants that had blocked off the road. The group did nothing special to attract the attention of the elephant, he simply walked towards the vehicle and came into contact with it as shown in the video. Nothing of any consequence happened either before or after the incident. What is most likely is the elephant was just showing the tourist group who the boss was. As the elephant returned back to his herd, the tour group moved on safely.
