Watch This Dog Rescue A Deer From The Ocean
The saying goes that dogs are man’s best friend, however if you watch this video, you will see they can also be friends with deer as well. Mark Freeley was walking his dog in Long Island New York and suddenly saw his dog Storm jump into the Long Island Sound. This is the body of water that separates Connecticut from Long island as the dog sought to rescue a young deer that was drowning in the sea. Mr Freeley told a news station that Storm just plunged into the water and started making his way out to the fawn. When he reached the young deer, he grabbed it by the neck and began swimming back to shore.
The deer was frightened
Once Storm and the fawn reached the shore he put the deer on the ground and began to nudge it. Mr Freeley said following the initial rescue the startled deer ran back into the water, perhaps because it was frightened by the dog and the whole ordeal. At that point, Mr Freeley and an animal rescue worker took charge and waded into the water to bring the deer back to shore.
Fawn making a recovery
Apparently, there was a lot of anxiety around the second rescue which took about eight minutes to get a rope around the animal. The deer was then placed in the animal rescue worker’s van and it was found to be covered in ticks and had an eye injury to boot. The deer is now resting at a shelter and will be released upon making a recovery.
