Check Out This Video Of Baby Elephant Feeling A Little Awkward

Most people tend to behave unconsciously whenever they are feeling a little uncomfortable. Some people tend to yawn, whilst others will cover their face. In some instances, people will do both when the situation is extremely awkward. It would seem that baby elephants are not that different from humans and also exhibit behaviours whenever they feel nervous, insecure or uncertain.

Trying to take a dip

Recently some footage was captured at the Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa of an elephant calf swinging its trunk in what can only be described as being a helicopter motion. The elephant calf who has been nicknamed Happy was attempting to reach the water for a bit of a swim and a drink with the rest of the herd. Unfortunately, Happy was unable to reach the water from where he was standing and suddenly his trunk began to swing like a helicopter blade.

Happy is a cutie

Experts says this is very common behaviour for elephants who are still learning how to control and use their trunks. Whilst it is important not read too much into what is shown in the video, it is likely that at Happy’s age, he was probably feeling a little displaced and exhibiting some behaviour which suggests he wanted to enter the water but was not completely sure about whether it was socially appropriate. Elephants will usually twist their trunks or swing their feet when they aren’t quite sure what the next move should be. So whilst it is impossible to say with complete certainty that Happy was feeling awkward at the time the video was shot, we can still enjoy watching him.
