Screwball Rally Team Raise £300 for The Aspinall Foundation

A group of fundraisers travelled 2500 miles across Europe in a black cab to help raise money for The Aspinall Foundation, and in particular their Honey Badger. The group set off from Dover and travelled through Dijon, Asti, Munich, Hanover and back through Calais as part of the 2010 Screwball Rally, raising £300.

The Screwball Rally is a yearly event, with each team only allowed to spend £750 or less on their car. Prizes are even given for the best theme and fancy dress, and last year the rally raised over £71,000 for UK charities. The Screwball Rally covers some 2,500 miles in five days through through seven countries, no mean feat for a car that costs less than £750!

The group chose to support the Honey Badger that can be found in Africa, the Middle East and India. This interesting little animals are more closely related to the weasel than badgers and are in decline due to being targeted by farmers and for their body parts. The Honey Badger has a reputation for tenacity and fearlessness, a bit like the guys travelling around Europe in their black cad death trap!

We also hope that the adventures of Ben and his team will inspire our supporters to get out there and come up with creative ways to raise money for our cause.
