About Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT)

GCT is the only charity that operates in the United Kingdom with the sole purpose of raising money for the conservation of the world’s most unique ecologically important island chain. The Galapagos Islands are amongst the most vulnerable islands on the planet. Founded in 1985, GCT has more than three decades experience in conservation.

Partnering with the Government of Ecuador, NGO’s and other stakeholders both in the UK and in Galapagos GCT supports meaningful research and conservation programmes as well as delivering community outreach throughout the island chain. GCT raises both awareness and money in the UK and through those efforts is able to fund and deliver conservation and education projects throughout the archipelago ensuring the Islands and their unique ecosystem are well managed and remain safe. 

Why supporting GCT makes sense

• Science and conservation Help GCT support scientific research as well as the collection and interpretation of data that can be used as evidence for the preservation and protection of the unique ecosystems of Galapagos and biodiversity.
• Education and sustainability Help GCT deliver education and training to the local and visiting communities of Galapagos. Help the organisation raise awareness amongst those communities to adopt sustainable living through their behaviour and use of resources and inspire them to embody the values of conservation.
• Eco-friendly tourism Wildlife tourism is a boom industry that has enormous potential to capture sustainable investments that fund investments. GCT is supporting these initiatives through the creation of meaningful partnerships with the Government of Ecuador and tour providers, so that the island is minimally affected by the people who visit every year.
