Check Out The Animals At Portland Zoo Enjoying Themselves In The Snow

28th January 2017 UNDER Blog

Snow which fell in Portland Oregon recently prompted the zoo in the city to remain closed to the public for a day. Whilst humans felt the chill, so too did the animals. The Oregon Zoo posted a video to major social media which showed the zoo’s polar bear, Nora, enjoying herself by rolling around in the mounds of snow as flakes fell all around her. Lots of the zoo’s animals enjoyed the snow including seals, sea otters and even an Asian elephant called Samudra.

Snowiest day since 2008

The Pacific storm system that was sweeping though California was also bringing rain and snowfall to the rest of the Western United Stated. In Portland between 6 to 12 inches fell on a single day making it the snowiest day in Portland since 2008. As a result of the snow, the zoo decided to shut its doors, though essential animal-care staff were on hand according to a spokesperson for the zoo. The video was shot by a staff videographer who skied to the zoo to obtain the footage the spokesperson said.
