Udopt Prize Donation Buys Amazing Cat Pen
Fantastic news coming down from Scotland, after the Glasgow branch of Cat’s Protection got in touch to let us know how our £500 prize donation is helping the animal charity. Joanne McGonagle was the original winner for Cat’s Protection, who found out about the special prize draw via our udopt Facebook group.
We spoke to her colleague Lorraine, who let us know that they had bought a special pen to keep the the cats they rescue in.
Lorraine said –
So far, the pen has had two lots of visitors – three cats who came from a multicat household because the amount of cats the owners had was too much for them to deal with – Panther, Lucy and Zeena. They were neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and all who went to their new homes in December in nice time for Christmas.
The second visitor who is still in the pen, is the lovely Boris (pictured) – he had been straying for a good few weeks and a lady called us to see if we could help him. At a massive over 6 kilos he is a big boy, and has clearly been well fed somewhere. He has now been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and has been advertised to see if he has an owner.
So far no one has come forward, so we will be looking for a new home for him. He really is a lovely boy, just quite spooked at the moment and doesn’t do much apart from sit, eat and pop to the loo! He has absolutely beautiful and quite rare markings, and we are sure he will get a great home soon.
The new pen will provide us with the opportunity to help many more cats. We are absolutely delighted to win this amount of money, especially at this time of year. We have over 30 cats in care at the moment and many kittens, some who require regular medical care. This time of year also bring larger medical bills as we deal with more stray cats out in the streets that we try our best to bring in from the cold weather.
It’s great to see our prize going a long way to helping the winning charity in their work. Here’s hoping the Glasgow branch of Cats Protection can continue to help distressed tabbies across the city and offer them a warm and welcome place to stay for the foreseeable future.
