Watch This Dramatic Video Of A Man Fighting Off A Leopard

This video captures the dramatic moment of a senior citizen fighting of a leopard who went on a tear around a village in India. The man’s neighbours in the small hamlet can be heard screaming in sheer panic as he struggles to stave of the big cat from his chest following the mauling of three other people who live in the village.

Illustrates human animal conflict

The attack took place in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and illustrates the increasing conflict between humans and animals as we increasingly destroy their habitat forcing them into areas where people live. The video was filmed by the man’s terrified neighbours who did their best to scare the leopard away. If you watch the video you will see the man attempting to fend off the leopard who kicks out from the floor and then leaps on top of the man.

Man puts up brave fight

Fortunately for the man he refused to succumb to the attack and grabs hold of a stick located close by and uses it to keep the animal at bay wrestling with the leopard to prevent it from pinning him to the ground. The leopard had sneaked into the village with her cubs and began attacking a villager who was in his courtyard. She then proceeded to attack a 50-year-old woman who was enjoying sitting in the sun in front of her house. The man in the video however put up a much stronger fight than the leopard expected ending up with the big cat running away and disappearing into the nearby sugar cane fields.

Leopard was not caught

Forest officials acting on information provided by the villagers arrived at the scene, however understandably the villagers were not happy when the forest department were unable to trap the leopard. The injured three were later taken to a local hospital for treatment.
