Watch This Kiteboarder Get Hit By A Humpback Whale And Come Away Completely Unscathed
Andrei Grigoriev is a kiteboarder who lives in Norther California, and recently he discovered a surprising speed bump in the San Francisco Bay. At first, he wasn’t sure what it was but within seconds a humpback whale surfaced right in front of him. You would think that would be enough to stop someone dead in their tracks but Mr Grigoriev says it barely slowed him down. He says he was kiteboarding off Crissy Field Beach in San Francisco when the encounter occurred and was fortunate enough to record the event.
Never seen a whale before
Mr Grigoriev who is 36 years old and a resident of the Bay Area said he had never seen a whale before his close encounter which involved hitting the back of the humpback but still being able to maintain balance and continue kite boarding. He adds that he was going straight out from the beach when he felt something touch his board from below. For the next fifteen seconds, he says he felt something around him until the whale leapt out of the water right in front of him.
The whale was not afraid
Mr Grigoriev says he believes had the whale in any way felt intimidated by its presence it probably would have lashed out at him with its tail. He goes on to add that it was an unbelievable and crazy situation to be in, and says he has a tendency to get into these types of situations. San Francisco of late has seen many whales roaming around its famous bay, so it was probably inevitable that an encounter like this would occur at some point.
