Watch an Orphan Baby Sea Otter Learning to Swim – The Cutest Thing You’ll See this Week!
Monty the Penguin may be have been getting lots of media coverage recently, but we’ve found something even cuter – “Pup 681” the baby sea otter! This cute baby girl pup was found stranded on a beach in California when a worried local heard her cries. It’s estimated at the time of being found she was just 1 week old and alone. She was taken to Monterey Bay Aquarium in California for some life-saving rehab, before being transferred to the specialist Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.
Shedd Aquarium is one of only a handful of facilities that would be able to not only nurse this super cute sea otter back to health, but also to teach her important life skills. The staff at Shedd Aquarium have helped Pup 681 to learn such vital task as grooming, finding food, regulating body temperature and of course swimming (as seen in the fantastic video above)!

As an organisation dedicated to marine mammal care and conservation, we were perfectly positioned to ensure that this little pup had a home, providing the long-term care needed to survive.
Check on Sea Otter Pup 681’s Progress with #PupHangout
She’s certainly a lucky pup but it doesn’t stop with this one video. In fact move over Justin Bieber (no Justin, much, much more over please!) – Pup 681 has become a bit of an internet celebrity in her own right. Yesterday she took part in her own Google hangout so fans could check on her recovery and hear from the staff about how she was progressing. In fact she’s even got her own hashtag #PupHangout!
