Watch Rare Moment Of Moose Shedding Its Antlers

A family who were staying at their cabin in Wyoming were watching a bull moose through their window. They got the shock of their lives when out of nowhere one of the moose’s antlers fell to the snow. In an interview with National Geographic Kim Eberhart said the moose just shook his head and the antler fell off right in front of the whole family which was amazing.

Ms. Eberhart’s uncle shot the video in November last year and shared the extremely rare moment with National Geographic who recently posted the video online. A woman can be heard saying the animal is in pain and Ms. Eberhart herself  says the moose seemed quite scared and was shaking his head and emitted a really mournful sound afterwards.

Shedding is painless

Bill Samuel a moose biologist from the University of Alberta says it is unlikely the moose was in pain but instead probably experienced a sense of relief. He added that every year moose shed their antlers and it is believed the process is a painless one. Dr. Samuel says witnessing the moment  is quite rare so enjoy the video.
