Our Fossa Says…
I am a large carnivorous mammal that is very cat like and can only be found in Madagascar. I am closely related to the mongoose though the exact nature of my species is controversial. I am the largest carnivorous mammal on the island of Madagascar and many people compare me to a small cougar. The IUCN lists me as an endangered species and whilst I am an apex predator my habitat is being destroyed by humans and I am in need of your help to survive.

udopt'r choice
The fossa likes to keep to themselves except when it’s time to mate! The fossa is territorial and will keep to a range of around 20 squared kilometers. This mammal is an apex predator and though it is elusive this makes it a rather aggressive animal especially when hunting or threatened. The fossa is uniquely designed to climb trees and does so quickly and stealthily and is extremely athletic and agile. It is hard to describe the fossa as anything but a reserved animal and of course living in Madagascar it does prefer warm climates.
udopt it because
- Rapid deforestation has meant the habitat of the fossa is being destroyed
- The fossa is an elegant animal that is as beautiful as is agile it would be terrible to see this mammal go extinct.
- Adoption programmes start from as little as £3.50 a month.
- Includes free passport for either Port Lympne or Howletts
